Acoustifest 2006
- Melodee Music - Sterling VA
Rob Mock and his entire crew at Melodee Music generated one of the finest small guitar festival events I have been privileged to be a part of during my 16 year touring career. The annual multi-sponsored event, Acoustifest, featured four acts throughout the day, beginning at 10 am and running straight through until 7 pm, in their beautiful 80 seat theater on March 26, 2006. I was honored to kick the event off with featured sponsorship from Breedlove guitars, which gave me a great opportunity to demonstrate the new 6-string Rosewood and Cedar signature 'Gilewitz' C-25 model, as well as the stunning Myrtle wood 12-string cutaway jumbo Northwest XII. The packed house included some of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable guitar aficionados I have had the pleasure to share the room with in recent years. I was mostly impressed with the diversity of ages in the crowd as well as the apparent talent based on their insightful questions during the Q and A portion. During my performance I was also taken by their sense of humor as we shared some humorous and sarcastic quips along the way. I'm not sure if they believed me when I told them at a previous clinic I actually had an attendee ask me if I could play a tune by Dan Rather. They really didn't believe me when I told them it was at a music store that sold guitars and wigs. Unfortunately both are true! One of the great pleasures of touring is having the opportunity to not only share the stage with the immense talent the world has to offer, but to also sit back and soak in the tremendous performances of the other artists of the day, which on this occasion included Stephen Bennett, Wayne Johnson, and John Jorgenson. Many thanks once again to Rob Mock and his tight crew on all fronts as well as Breedlove Guitars for this wonderful opportunity.
